Weather update: Possible thunderstorm on New Year’s Eve

KALAMAZOO — The National Weather Service says it will rain most of the day Friday and there’s a chance for a thunderstorm later on New Year’s Eve.
The high temperature will be near 52 degrees. Here is the forecast looking ahead: Tonight: Occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 38. South southwest wind between 5 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
New Year’s Day: Rain showers likely before 7am, then scattered snow showers after 1pm. Some thunder is also possible. Partly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 30 by 5pm. Breezy, with a southwest wind between 13 and 21 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Saturday Night: Scattered snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 19. Breezy, with a west wind between 17 and 21 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
