Man arrested over WA double murder in Maylands

A 47-year-old man has been arrested over the violent deaths of a man and a woman at a unit in Perth.

Police captured the man without incident this morning after tip-offs from members of the public.

The name and picture of a man wanted for questioning over the deaths was released by police after the discovery of the bodies in the city’s east earlier in the morning.

The man was arrested at about 9.45am (WST) at a house in the northern suburb of Nollamara, Detective Inspector David Bryson said.

St John Ambulance officers had found the bodies of a 29-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man at a unit in Maylands about 6.50am.

Det Insp Bryson said it was “a very brutal homicide” and a “very graphic” crime scene.

Det Insp Bryson said one other man was at the unit and had assisted Major Crime Squad detectives.

He said information was scant but it was thought the people in the unit were friends and were at the address during the night.

Police had no idea of a motive for the killings at this stage, Det Insp Bryson said.
