Mike and Zara’s right royal knees-up

Sounds like newlyweds Mike Tindall and Zara Phillips had a very merry time at their wedding reception.
The happy couple, who were married on Saturday, partied the whole night away and didn’t arrive back at the bridal suite until 2pm yesterday. According to the Daily Mail, the Queen and Prince Philip, Charles and Camilla made a fairly speedy exit after Saturday’s ceremony, leaving the youngsters to “let their hair down”.

And let their hair down they did.

Following a sit-down dinner of lobster and crayfish cocktail, Scottish venison and chocolate fondant, guests began knocking back the wine and champagne, along with ice-cold shots from a vodka fountain and Snow Leopard cocktails. As a jazz band played, a “rather merry” Zara reportedly grabbed the microphone on several occasions.

Aside from the odd early hours visit to the chippie, the royal revellers carried on partying right through the night. Mike and Zara eventually left for a 7.45am breakfast with Tindall’s parents before finally making it back to their suite at 2pm.

A ‘royal source’ told the Mail: “It was just a family knees-up. Your archetypal wedding, really. Except with a lot of royals and rugby players. “And a lot of drinking. In fact make that a hell of a lot of drinking.” What do you think of Zara – refreshingly normal? Leave a comment below… When it comes to letting their hair down, those famous types really know how to party!
